Many staff members feel an instinctive "panic" when they encounter self-harm. My training reframes this by looking at the psychology of emotional regulation. We move away from seeing self-harm as a "problem to be stopped" and instead look at it as a "communication to be understood."

The fear of "saying the wrong thing" is the biggest barrier to effective support. I provide your team with the emotional tools and safe language to bridge that gap. We will look at safe disclosure management, safe language and the power of validating and not fixing.

Effective support doesn't happen in a vacuum. Based on my DSL experience, I believe the most robust safety plans are built on a "Golden Triangle" of School, Home, and Student. This empowers the student, engages the parents and give school a defined and clear role.
